Intarch was retained to provide architectural and interior design services for a 9000 Square foot, four-level  home in India. This custom residence was designed in a metropolitan area on a very small plot of land. The long rectangular footprint for the house dictated by the plot size provided a design challenge. However, Intarch ingeniously conceived a floor plan, including an atrium in the center of the building, with an innovative bridge design spanning through the atrium, connecting the front half of the house to the back half. A fifty-foot high solid wall along the length of the atrium space was designed with a flat waterfall of tulip shaped projections finished with slate on a green marble background. An open staircase and a glass elevator, through the atrium, overlook the serene splendor of the water cascading gently down the wall,

Foyer

A circular staircase from the entry foyer leads into the basement, where the bar is located. Antique wood carved columns flank the archway into the seating area of the bar. The intricately patterned teak flooring enhances the warmth and hospitality of this entertainment area.

The entry foyer overlooking the atrium has a white Italian marble floor, accented by black granite borders, to give it a spacious and airy feeling.  Custom designed etched glass panels affixed to metal railings painted in black adds to the simple splendor of the house.  The wall above the spiral staircase leading from the entry foyer to the bar areas in the basement is decorated with an antique black lit filigree wood carved panel combining the look of old and new.

Elevator Lobby

The living room overlooks the front garden on one side and the atrium  on the other side. Oriental rugs and carved  furniture placed in the room with an antique window of filigree (Jali) work and bone inlay wood frame, captures the essence of traditional decorative elements of India.
